From cost planning to construction services, our quantity surveyors ensure accountability, efficiency and optimum value for your business.
Our quantity surveying team acts as project quantity surveyors throughout all development stages, provides resources on secondment arrangements and offers advice on both the implementation and administration of standard forms.
Our team is made up of approximately 60 quantity surveyors with an impressively broad spectrum of quantity surveying experience. This allows the delivery of services across most sectors, including residential infrastructure and marine, in both public and private sectors and enables expertise to be shared across the company to ensure quality of delivery for our clients.
Clients recognise that our foundation and experience in quantum analysis and construction disputes offer a stronger viewpoint on identifying and mitigating risk throughout a project lifecycle.
We safeguard our client's interests by advising on forms of contract suitable to their projects; entering into the details of procurement, tendering strategies and constraints, and implementing effective governance and processes to ensure accountability throughout delivery and cost accuracy.
Our dedicated team of quantity surveyors is widely recognised for its expertise in the field. We go beyond the remit at every opportunity to challenge targets, improve efficiencies, minimise risk and secure optimum value for clients.
Our position in the market is that of trusted advisors, working on a project alongside or in tandem with the legal team, but never in competition.

SOCOTEC UK's Dispute & Advisory Team offer the following Quantity Surveying Services:
We prepare cost plans to forecast construction costs at the various stages of the project in line with the RIBA Plan of Work for both building and civil engineering schemes. This ranges from initial cost appraisal through to full elemental cost plan.
Our use of measurement software allows for accurate measurement and for detailed measured drawings to be provided to review with consultants and clients on their anticipated costs.
We provide pre-qualification questionnaires, advice and selection of appropriate procurement routes and contract type. This consists of compiling tender documentation, tender return analysis and reports as well as the provision of independent reviews on contract documentation.
We provide monthly valuations and certificates, value changes, provide contractual correspondence and prepare and agree final accounts through onsite teams. We provide contract reviews with suggested responses and standard templates for contract correspondence and deliver cash flows, budgets and monthly cost value reconciliations as predetermined.
We prepare documentation for extension of time and loss and expense or, alternatively, provide responses to claims for both extension of time and loss and expense. We also prepare quantum documentation for supporting evidence.
We undertake procurement, place subcontract orders, prepare monthly applications, value variations, issue contract notices, produce final accounts and provide cash flows, budgets and monthly cost value reconciliations.
We undertake the role of contract administrator or employer’s agent, fulfil the function as required by either the JCT or NEC contract and administer the contract from commencement to completion.
We establish the correct value of construction works completed at termination or final account for the purpose of negotiation, adjudication or litigation.
We also extend our knowledge to our clients by providing bespoke tailored training courses demonstrating the correct delivery of contracts and administration. To provide the basis for a successful contract, we provide training on most standard forms of contract, including the JCT suite and NEC 3 and 4. This training is suitable for both employers and contractors. Focused training is provided for compliance with the Construction Act and managing change. Other more general training consists of contract and commercial administration which is aimed at reducing and controlling risk during the construction process. This course is beneficial for smaller contractors and subcontractors. We also provide a number of companies with APC training to allow their employees to become Chartered Surveyors via the RICS.
