Our clients include domestic and international government bodies, large corporate organisations and contractors, private clients and individuals, a wide range of law firms, and other leading transport, energy and infrastructure providers.
We are currently instructed as quantum experts on disputes ranging in value from £50k to over £1bn.
Additionally, SOCOTEC Advisory now offer the following expert witness services:
A strategy for the mediation or conciliation hearing
We can provide detailed assessments of the strengths and weaknesses of all parties’ positions as to the value of the disputed claims and counterclaims. We then work with the client's legal team to develop a strategy for the mediation or conciliation hearing. During the meeting itself, our expert team can be available to advise during negotiations and to conduct one-to-one meetings with opposing experts.
Arbitration and Litigation
Expert evidence on valuation
We support the client’s legal team by providing expert evidence on the valuation of sums in dispute and also on the professional standards to be expected when acting as a quantity surveyor, contract administrator and/or project manager in professional negligence disputes.
Negotiation
Negotiated settlements to disputes
Where possible, a negotiated settlement to a dispute will always be the preferred option. We can assist in reviewing a party's claims and providing the necessary assistance to make them as robust as possible before submission. We can then assist during the negotiation process, attending meetings with other parties and providing advice on the strengths and weaknesses of the other party’s position and assessments of the value of their claims or counterclaims.
Adjudication
Expert evidence in adjudication proceedings
As with litigation and arbitration, we can also provide expert evidence in adjudication proceedings. In addition, for disputes without complex legal issues, we can also act directly for the client as party representatives. We can also act in an advisory capacity and provide initial assessments of potential claims, advice on the strengths and weaknesses of claims and assistance in the preparation of claims. We also have a number of adjudicators within the team who are able to offer advice as to the process itself and assessments of the relative strengths of claims prior to commencing proceedings.
