Leader in testing, inspection and certification (TIC) services, SOCOTEC UK and Ireland is proud to be recognised on the prestigious Sunday Times Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, placing 80th place in this year’s rankings.
The list, which celebrates excellence in apprenticeship programmes across the UK, was unveiled on 10th July 2025 through a special broadcast streamed live on YouTube, as well as being featured published in print and online in The Sunday Times during this weekend’s edition.
SOCOTEC’s placement on the heralded list, comes as a result of its ‘You Grow, We Grow’, philosophy, which has seen it reach 400 total apprentices since 2021, 200 of whom are currently studying towards apprenticeships at the firm.
HR Director Lisa Massey, has played a key role in driving the success of SOCOTEC’s apprentices, and said: “It is fantastic to be recognised among the UK's top apprenticeship employers.
“This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to developing talent and investing in our people across the business. We have hugely increased in the amount of development and career pathway opportunities for our staff over the last four years and this is really impacting our business performance.
“Across all our divisions, we have hundreds of colleagues who are engaged in learning and development. More than 200 of them are undertaking a diverse range of apprenticeships that are supporting the growth of the business, hand in hand, with the growth of their own careers. This in turn ensures we are able to bring excellent levels of technical knowledge and service to our client’s day-after-day.
“What is incredible is that only a third of our current apprentices fall into the ‘early careers’ bracket, meaning the remaining two thirds of our apprentices are made up of colleagues with an ambition to enhance their skills, take the next step or even change direction in their career.”
The annual Sunday Times Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers rankings are developed by the Department for Education in partnership with High Fliers Research, evaluating employers on criteria including their commitment to creating new apprenticeships, the diversity of their apprentices and the quality of training provided.
Lisa added: “As an accredited Great Place to Work, ware always looking to continue the evolution of our career pathways and development opportunities.
“Apprenticeships will be something we will always offer to our colleagues and this supports our EVP (Employee Value Proposition) and talent attraction as an employer in the TIC market.
“Our ambition is to increase our Early Careers Apprenticeships by 50% in the next 2 years and we hope that this recognition by The Sunday Times, shows that anyone joining us as an apprentice can look forward to a great learning experience.”
