Whether they have excelled in a particular project or gone the extra mile for a client, we like to recognise employees for their hard work, dedication and can-do attitude. We hold our Employee Recognition Awards several times a year, where employees can nominate fellow colleagues and explain their reasoning for doing so. We also offer our Thank You Recognition Scheme all year round, where you can show your appreciation for your colleagues through the creation of bespoke, personalised thank you notes.

Your Benefits app

Employees can access a range of high street discounts through the Hapi Benefits app, which provides quick and easy access to offers, discounts and savings on groceries, clothing, cinema trips and family days out. There is also the option to take advantage of low cost corporate rates at over 2,500 health clubs across the UK and Ireland.

Cycle2Work

The Cycle2Work scheme encourages cycling as an alternative mode of transport, allowing employees to purchase cycling equipment and accessories between the value of £100 and £2,500 from approved retailers associated with the scheme. Employees will have this deducted as part of a salary sacrifice over a 12-month period.

Environmental, safety and social considerations

Corporate Social Responsibility

Social and environmental concerns are considered in all of our business operations, and we continually seek safer, more cost effective and sustainable methods of working while adhering to best practices. SOCOTEC aligns all of its business activities in relation to our economic, social and environmental impact, including:

Sustainability

In our day-to-day operations, it is inevitable that SOCOTEC impacts on the environment in a number of ways, and we are committed to reducing that impact through the continual improvement of our environmental performance. Sustainability considerations are also fully integrated in our business decision-making, implemented this through such applications as environmental awareness training for our employees, measuring our carbon footprint and promoting a sustainable approach to all of our clients and stakeholders.

Personal and professional development

As part of their personal development plan, employees are provided with a clear route for progression, with regular training and advice readily available. They will also receive regular one-on-one time with their line manager to discuss their performance, establish objectives

Improving safety culture in the workplace

SOCOTEC is committed to minimising the risk of injury and ill health to our employees, clients and stakeholders. We will safeguard employees, clients and third parties from foreseeable hazards connected with work activities, processes and working systems. As part of this vision, we actively encourage all of our employees to be Health and Safety heroes, empowering them to engage with the safety aspects of their roles at all times.

Workplace wellbeing initiatives

Safeguarding health and wellbeing in the workplace is also vital, which is why we have a number of workplace wellbeing initiatives in place. For example, our Employee Assistance Programme provides 24-hour access to a network of over 1,500 counsellors and psychologists who can advise on a range of legal, financial, personal, health and lifestyle issues via a confidential hotline. Users can also access such resources as monthly webinars, wellbeing articles and online CBT courses.

Mental Health at SOCOTEC

Mental Health First Aiders

SOCOTEC has a number of trained Mental Health First Aiders on hand to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and offer supportive, impartial advice. Acting as an initial point of contact for those experiencing a mental health issue – whether it be an employee or someone an employee is concerned about – Mental Health First Aiders are on hand to provide confidential, impartial advice should it be required.

Working from home

Our smart working policy

With our lives busier than ever, we recognise the importance of maintaining a work-life balance, which is why SOCOTEC has recently implemented the new Smart Working programme. As part of this new initiative, employees will be encouraged to discuss with their line managers the best ways to use their location, technology and time to effectively meet the needs of the business. By introducing such initiatives as a working from home rota, staggering start and finish times and time off for personal development, we hope to enhance wellbeing and workplace performance among our workforce.
