Experts from across SOCOTEC UK & Ireland’s fire engineering, fire safety practice and fire testing, building envelope and structural engineering divisions came together for its annual Fire Division Conference.
Held at Whittlebury Park in Towcester, the conference has been held for over 10 years, and this year over 70 delegates from across the business were involved in a day-long event, with multiple speakers from across the business, as well as collaborative quizzes and interactive elements held throughout the day, too.
Among the speakers for the day were:
- Stephen Kavanagh, Director of Engineering
- Wayne Neville, Technical & Operations Director
- Eddy Khoury, Director of Fire Engineering
- Wayne Somanna, Associate Director – Fire Engineering
- Dr Jiayu Hu, Senior Fire Engineer, alongside 15 other speakers, discussing a wide range of topics.
Also present were the recently acquired United Kingdom Testing and Certification (UKTC), whose fire testing facility and expertise was one of the most heavily discussed topics during the conference.
A team, including Operations Director Andrew Hutchison, led a presentation in order to demonstrate how the UKTC team’s facilities will drastically expand the fire service offering from SOCOTEC across the board.
Our annual Fire Engineering Conference was an opportunity for our teams to come together and share our learnings from across the last 12 months.
As we continue to grow, it can become a challenge for us to bring our teams together in such a way, as we are spread across the UK & Ireland, so this date is becoming more and more important with each passing year.
The addition of UKTC this year was great to see. Their expertise and new service offering is already making a huge difference to our customers, and we are excited to see them integrate further as a result of their presentation today.
As much as we look back on what’s happened, we are also looking forward and planning for what is to come, in 2026 and beyond. This, ultimately, puts us in the best possible position to help continuing a top service to all of our customers.
An evening dinner allowed delegates to network further, and share learnings from across their sectors with one another.
