Multi-Disciplinary Services Supporting Delegates at Brownfield Land, Scotland

    Fri 02/01/2019 - 12:49

SOCOTEC, the UK’s leading provider of testing, inspection and compliance services, shall once again be attending the annual exhibition and conference, Brownfield Land Scotland.

This year’s event will focus on planning and regulations for brownfield land development, along with the challenges of risk assessing and remediating contaminated and derelict land. Key topics will be presented by experts in their field, to include: asbestos in soil, gas risk assessments in mining, transforming derelict land, developing brownfield land and waste management policy.

SOCOTEC will be showcasing a range of multidisciplinary services to support those working on brownfield projects with arising challenges that can occur throughout the lifecycle of remediation projects. SOCOTEC’s team of experienced scientists and technicians can provide complementary and integrated services across the project, including ground investigation works and environmental testing as well as material testing for soils, earthworks, concretes and aggregates.

Brownfield projects can benefit from the expertise and experience that is offered from SOCOTEC’s team of technicians and consultants in potentially hazardous ground, contaminated land, asbestos found in soils and naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM).

With a streamlined process, SOCOTEC can provide a cost and time-saving benefit to your remediation project using mobile laboratory on-site analysis for a wide range of materials. Most contaminants can be tested for that are of concern to brownfield sites. On-site analysis has many benefits, including fast turnaround times for results, tailoring to project requirements and reducing hazardous waste volumes through segregation of soil.

SOCOTEC’s materials testing division - based at Queenslie, Glasgow - holds extensive UKAS accreditation* for classification and compaction related testing, as well as more specialist concerns. With a substantial laboratory, the facility covers all disciplines of construction related materials testing including concrete, soils, aggregates and bituminous materials. In addition, the division has recently opened the Marywell facility, south of Aberdeen. This facility is well equipped to undertake in-situ testing in North East Scotland, along with supporting the Aberdeen Harbour Expansion Project at nearby Nigg Bay.

Aiming to bring together local councils, regulators, consultants and contractors, the event will provide opportunities to discuss and share solutions and experiences. The event shall be taking place on 6 February at Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue; SOCOTEC look forward to meeting you at their stand.
