About Gareth Mews

Gareth Mews is a leader and operations specialist, who has experience working on large scale geotechnical ground investigations throughout the UK and Australia. He is a Chartered Manager experienced in performance analysis, change management, strategic planning and continuous business improvement.  He also has a strong safety focus and chairs the Safety Steering Group that is responsible for improving health & safety (H&S) culture within the business unit.

As Senior Operations Manager, Gareth has responsibility for the parts of the business delivering drilling services, land remediation, surveys and geophysics.

Gareth has acted as project lead on several R&D ventures including industry firsts, such as the Transducer Packer Slave Reeler system and the wireline HPD testing unit.  He has also led the development of several H&S innovations that have been the recipient of industry awards.

Gareth founded, launched and manages the SOCOTEC Drilling Academy, which is the only contractor-owned award centre in the UK, delivering Level 2 & 3 diplomas in Land Drilling.  He also sits on the British Drilling Association Training and Education committee.
