Experts from across the UK gathered at the ‘PFAS: A Forever Problem?’ conference on 22nd April 2026, sponsored by SOCOTEC UK & Ireland, alongside ATG Group and Puragen.

Held at the National Brownfield Institute at the University of Wolverhampton, the conference consisted of multiple interesting talks and presentations throughout the day by various individuals and organisations collectively invested in the future of PFAS remediation technologies and testing capabilities, followed by interactive panels.

Attendees included those working in academia researching PFAS, MPs working with the government regarding PFAS regulations, and organisations producing new PFAS remediation technologies. SOCOTEC’s igloo presentation and exhibitor stand promoting our work in PFAS testing and analysis was accompanied by a number of other exhibitors: ATG Group, Puragen, CDE, DESOTEC, Analytix, HUESKER, Cornelsen, Mantisonix, 2Encapsulate and Intrapore.

SOCOTEC’s Tim Barnes, Operations and Commercial Director, gave an introductory talk about the importance of the conference and the necessity of working collectively towards remediating PFAS.

The solution to PFAS is found in collaboration through events like this. Labs, academia, government – society as a whole is needed to crack this problem.
