The new laboratory, will allow the Water Quality team to meet an increasing demand for its services, following recent multi-million pound Continuous Water Quality Monitoring contract awards by Yorkshire Water.

This new water quality testing laboratory will increase our output significantly - underlining our credibility and gearing up for the upcoming workload that Section 82 will demand of the industry.

Isabell Holling, Managing Director for SOCOTEC UK & Ireland’s Monitoring & Surveying division, said

SOCOTEC’s water quality work is split between bathing water studies, storm overflow assessment framework (SOAF) information and other construction and run off related assessments, alongside the continuous water quality monitoring requirements put in place by Section 82 of the Environment Act 2021. The new laboratory will help fulfil much of the work in those recent contract wins, as well as help the Water Quality department work towards achieving ISO17025 accreditation.

In addition to the new laboratory, is the building of a new mezzanine for the storage of Flow and Water Quality Monitoring equipment on-site which is held between usage and deployed on a Data As A Service (DAAS) basis for both Flow and WQ Monitoring.

Our teams are up-and-down the country managing water quality monitoring for so many water companies at the moment, we will continue to invest in our facilities, workforce and equipment to ensure we are always providing the best possible data and service to our customers.
Key to the development of this new laboratory were James Teale, our Water Quality Operations Director, and Gavin Beardshall, our Leeds Site Stores and Facilities Manager, and I’d like to thank them both for their continued assistance throughout the project, and getting it over the line on-time, which has helped our teams immeasurably ever since.
