SOCOTEC UK & Ireland have launched the Ground Investigation (GI) Engineer Academy, a new two-year training and development scheme designed to provide Graduate and Assistant level engineers with the knowledge, practical skills, and experience to build a career in GI.

The new GI training scheme, launched on 6th July, aims to develop a solid foundation within the geotechnical and geoenvironmental industry, with four engineers from across the UK joining the first cohort.
The programme is modelled on apprenticeship style learning, balancing on-the-job and off-the-job training and development with self-directed learning and mentorship. Learners enrolled onto the GI Engineer Academy will undertake a combination of modules, workshops, and assignments, as well as exposure to a range of practical techniques via their day-to-day project work.
SOCOTEC’s GI Engineer Academy qualifies under the 5% Club criteria as an “earn and learn” programme. The new engineers are encouraged to take ownership of their development and learning, while having support from dedicated mentors to aid continuous growth.
I’m very proud of SOCOTEC’s dedication to providing opportunities for development and growth through the GI Engineer Academy.
“It’s important to support early-career engineers, with the existing team also benefiting and expanding as a result of the direct training.
