SOCOTEC’s Basingstoke office provides perfect setting for growing team in Southern England
Since opening last year, SOCOTEC’s Basingstoke office has established itself as a new hub that serves as a Southern base for technical teams, engineers, project managers, and support staff working across major infrastructure projects.
Located within a beautifully restored clock tower on a working country estate, the Basingstoke office stands out from typical corporate settings. Formed as part of converted stables, the office features original beams and period architecture while offering modern facilities for collaborative working.
Katie Timkey, Project Manager, is one of those who is based at Basingstoke, and having joined us in September 2025, is enjoying the new surroundings.
The office serves as a hub for engineers working on projects ranging from major infrastructure schemes to bridge assessments and sewage works across the region, extending as far as Weston-super-Mare. Set within countryside just 10 minutes from the M3, the office offers team members an escape from typical urban commutes, while the estate features rambling walks, grazing sheep and cattle, and even Highland cows in nearby fields!
Katie joined SOCOTEC as Project Manager for the Basingstoke office, bringing extensive experience from offshore project management with major international companies, as well as ground investigation and gas network infrastructure roles. Since joining, she has been involved in significant projects including the Lower Thames Crossing North region, working with Tier 1 contractors such as Balfour Beatty and Atkins, alongside government bodies and Highways England.

My role was established due to the increased workflow we have in the South of England, and I’m very glad to have joined SOCOTEC and help contribute towards the current upward trend for the business."
