Specialised Underground Mapping Surveys (GPR)
As the UK's ageing services infrastructure undergoes replacement with new non-conductive pipes, our GPR technology is crucial for effectively mapping the location of underground non-metallic services.
As the UK's ageing services infrastructure undergoes replacement with new non-conductive pipes, our GPR technology is crucial for effectively mapping the location of underground non-metallic services.
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is often the only practical non-destructive method available to locate non-metallic or non-conductive utilities such as cast iron, PVC or other plastic pipes, concrete, and various composite pipelines.
Our GPR surveys are particularly valuable for:
Utility mapping
Void location
Sub-structure location
Geophysical surveys
Concrete inspections
How we carry out our works
We utilise the revolutionary Dual Polarised IDS Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) system for surveying large open areas and roads. The main advantages of the IDS system are:
Up to 50 times faster than any normal GPR site methods.
No requirement for traffic management.
True 3D data capture, providing increased accuracy and reliability.
The IDS DP system we use has 30 antennas mounted transversely to deliver 3D imaging of the underground utility network and structures in a single pass. Dual Polarisation is a pre-requisite for surveying to meet PAS128 M3(P) and M4(P) specifications.
Unlike other commonly marketed multi-channel systems which could be regarded as parallel, single channel systems, the IDS DP system enables fast and true 3D data acquisition in a single pass.
The system can be hand pushed or mounted to a vehicle such as a quad bike allowing for the mapping of large areas without loss of information. This method is suitable for almost any kind of shallow (<2.5m), subsurface investigation.
With the IDS DP system, we can map up to 3 ha of open ground or 500m of single carriageway road in a day without the need for costly traffic management.
As market leaders in our field, we can advise on the effectiveness of GPR for your site as well as the appropriate methodology and system.
Benefits:
Leading Technology – IDS Stream DP (Dual Polarised)) and Mala HDR Pro Ground Probing Radar (GPR)
Mobile vehicle-mounted data collection, removing the need for Traffic Management
Location of non-metallic services – plastic mains and fibre optic cables
Reduces the risk of striking a non-metallic main/service
Non-intrusive real-time data collection
Up to 50 times faster than conventional GPR site methods
True 3D data capture, providing increased accuracy and reliability
Accurate positioning using on-board GPS or Total Station tracking
Cost-efficient solutions for all surveying needs
