SOCOTEC Shortlisted in Ground Engineering Awards 2022

    Thu 06/23/2022 - 11:52

SOCOTEC’s Ground Investigation team is proud to have been shortlisted twice in the 2022 Ground Engineering awards.

    Rising Star Award

Senior engineer, Ruth Blair, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2022 Ground Engineering Rising Star award.

Ruth has worked at SOCOTEC’s Bridgend site for two and a half years. In that time, Ruth has progressed rapidly, starting as a graduate engineer and working her way up to her current role as senior geologist. She was nominated by her manager, Alex Wall (operations manager – Wales and South West), who has watched Ruth grow and develop during her time with the business. She has also made an impression upon project managers due to her organisational skills, being hardworking, approachable and her attention to detail.

“Ruth shows diligence, technical ability and initiative in everything she applies herself to,” said Alex. “Over the last 12 months in particular, Ruth has been an integral member of the Bridgend team, always providing support through a very busy trading year – compounded by the additional difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Her resilience and can-do attitude means she constantly strives to motivate and mentor the junior engineers by providing constructive and supportive feedback, organising training courses and one-to-one guidance, while also ensuring that her own technical knowledge and understanding is maintained and developed. We wish her the best of luck for the upcoming awards.”

UK Project with a Geotechnical Value of between £500K and £1M

SOCOTEC also has the opportunity to win the award for UK project with a Geotechnical value of between £500,000 and £1 million pounds. This was for the work which SOCOTEC carried out on Kingston Community School alongside Curtins Consulting and Vinci Building South. The project involves the development of a 420-place primary school in the centre of Kingston, London, which will form part of a mixed-use development comprising 19 apartments.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted in this year’s prestigious Ground Engineering Awards,” commented Clare Chapman, operations director, Ground Investigation, Infrastructure, SOCOTEC UK. “I would like to congratulate all of the members of SOCOTEC’s Ground Investigation team involved in the works and submission process, and wish them the best of luck in the final stage of the awards.”
