    About Tom Green

    Tom is a pavement/materials engineer who has experience working for both clients and contractors on highways construction projects and road pavements throughout the UK. Tom has a broad range of experience in road pavement materials investigation at both technical and supervisory level, as well as significant experience in materials testing, geotechnical testing and construction chemistry. Most of his time is spent writing technical investigation and materials failure investigation reports, the later includes work as an expert advisor in disputes relating to road pavement construction.

    Tom leads the UK pavement investigation team within the structures and pavement department at SOCOTEC delivering pavement investigations for a wide range of sites including major highways schemes.

    Toms expertise includes analysis of ground penetrating radar and falling weight deflectometer data and calculation of remaining pavement life and defect analysis. Tom also manages a UKAS accredited laboratory that specialises in asphalt materials and construction chemistry.

    Tom is currently vice chairman of the Society of the Chemical Industry (SCI) construction materials group, and sits on the general construction materials group as well as the asphalt materials sub group. He is appointed as a materials engineer to Dorset Council whom he represents on behalf of the Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning & Transport (ADEPT) Southern Counties Materials Engineers Group. He represents both ADEPT and the SCI on various British Standards committees and is a member of the UK and Ireland falling weight deflectometer user group.

    Tom has been at SOCOTEC UK since 2000. Prior to Toms current position, he held roles including regional technical manager for materials testing and operations manager.
