About Melody Wareing
Melody has over twenty five years’ experience in site investigation and post site data processing and assessment. Undertaking a wide range of projects in both public and private sectors including industrial, housing, office and supermarket developments, highways, railway embankments, bridges and pipelines and HS2 projects. She provides support to the ground investigation division managing technical processes, standards and training alongside guidance for attaining industry professional qualification. She also manages the GI Specialists geotechnical consultancy.
Professional Experience
25 YEARS WITH THE COMPANY | 25 YEARS IN THE INDUSTRY
Melody has been at SOCOTEC UK (or previous iterations) in various roles since 2001. She started as a report technician within our cone penetration testing department, and a field technician in our land and marine surveys, before settling within the Ground Investigation division as an engineer. She moved from Assistant to Principal engineer between 2002 and 2019, becoming the deputy Technical Team Leader in 2022 and the Technical Team Leader the following year. She now leads the Ground Investigation Specialists geotechnical consultancy, is the Chartership Officer for GI and acts as a representative to the SOCOTEC Quality team and supports staff to attain Chartership.
She is a member of the AGS Data Management Working Group and the AGS Piling subgroup and is actively working on the updates for AGS 5. She is a member of the Engineering Group of the Geological Society and the subgroup covering the Skills Pipeline. She is now a member of the BSi 5/526/7/2 Committee since 2025.
