Specially developed for the geotechnical industry, SILAS allows ESG’s engineers to input and store a large amount of complex data including strata descriptions and site records, eliminating the risk of transcription errors to maximise data recording precision. SILAS is protected by multi-layered security and is integrated with a web based management system for online viewing of the site operations, validation and scheduling of off-site testing.
SILAS allows ESG to offer clients an integrated collection, validation and handling system for all types of geotechnical field work, allowing its engineers to send data gathered on site directly to the management system over the mobile network. This not only saves vital time in the investigation process, but also helps reduce paper use and boost efficiency.
Philip Ball, group technical director, commented on being shortlisted: “The GE Awards recognises ground engineering excellence and we are therefore pleased to be associated with such a prestigious event in the ground engineering calendar. There is a real movement across the geotechnical industry towards greater efficiency and the development of SILAS demonstrates that ESG is committed to leading this drive by investing in new and emerging technologies for its clients.
“It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the information systems team and geotechnical field-based staff at ESG, that we have developed this innovative mobile application.”
The winners of the GE Awards 2015, will be announced on 10 June 2015 at Hilton Park Lane. For more information regarding the awards, please visit the website.
